Mapleshade Rest Earns Award of Excellence

The Greater Nashville Regional Council honored the City of Gallatin with seven awards of excellence for a variety of programs and initiatives.

The two initiatives cited for the 2011 GNRC Award for Gallatin Parks and Recreation Department are the completion of the first leg of the Town Creek Greenway and the "Mapleshade Rest" Community Earth Day Project at the Triple Creek Park entrance.

The Mapleshade Rest Earth Day Project was planned and organized by Puryear Farms Nursery & Landscaping as a day-long event that brought 200+ community volunteers together to plant a circle of 12 brandywine maple trees,  install the landscaping, plaza, and seating areas for "Mapleshade Rest".

Puryear Farms landscaped the Town Creek Greenway in 2010.

John Puryear was among several who represented the City of Gallatin and attended the GNRC awards banquet held in Portland, Tennessee.
